The character's success meant that after Fleming's death in 1964, writers Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz continued to create stories about the character James Bond. James Bond is an imaginary character created in 1953 by the British writer Ian Fleming, then made universally famous by the films inspired by the books in which he is the protagonist (twelve novels and two collections of stories): cultured and refined secret agent of British counterintelligence, former commander of the Navy, Bond has the identification number 007, where the double zero indicates that he has "license to kill".
